Mothers' Day for me and my mom has always involved lilacs. When I was little we would go to my dad's mom's house to see her on Mothers' day and then bring some lilacs from the tree in her front yard to my mom's mom's house. A few years ago as a house warming gift, I gave my mom a lilac bush of her own. That first Mother's day I went down to enjoy the bloomes with her. Lilacs of your own are wonderful, but nothing compares to the lilacs at the Arnold Arboretum. Every Mothers' day they run a program called "Lilac Sunday" and almost all of their lilac trees/bushes are in bloom. It's incredible any time during the months of April and May. My mom couldn't come up for Lilac Sunday this year, but that's probably a good thing because it has been non-stop rain around here. I did go twice last week (just before the rain started) and took pictures for everyone to enjoy. If you are in the Boston area, go to see the lilacs when the rain stops. If you aren't in the area, come next year, but more importantly hug your mom. I love you Mom! See you soon! For My Mom
