Naomi Heel, Good Dog

You will all be relieved to know that my fifth Jaywalker sock needle has been found and I've been happilly knitting away on them! I turned the heel this weekend and I'm working down the decreases now. Slow and steady with some other projects mingled in... I might actually make Cara's February 14th deadline!

I'm keeping the pattern as written, with a heel flap. I really think it's the right type of heel for this pattern and to keep with the flow. The gusset decreases will work perfectly into the angles. It was the right choice by the designer.

Personally I use both heel flaps and short row heels. I go back and forth between which one I think is easier, or cleaner, or quicker, but I usually decide on a sock by sock basis.

What about you? I know Claudia converted the pattern to use a short row heel because that's all she'll do. She knows what she likes and no immensely popular pattern will sway her otherwise!

Others are afraid of the short row heel, or have tried it but like the fit of the heel flap better.

And then there are the willy nilly, go with the flow, lets just all knit socks and get along crowd.

Which are you? Feel free to take a button and tell the world. Kindly link it back to this post so others can find the buttons if they would like them too.

Off to knit some socks. This is 200sox after all, right?
