Kaya's Kloset's Next Big Step

I've been knitting a ton lately! It's been fun again. I'm knitting a new and fun project. I ran out of one of the colors yesterday, but my LYS still had a ball in the same dye lot!

...but that's not what I'm writing about today!

I think the knitting urge has been born out of a release of energy and tension with the launch of the new Kaya's Kloset website!

I've been making a ton of shoes lately. Some have been listed on Etsy, and a large box of shoes went to a store on Boston's Newbury St that will be opening next month! I'll be sure to talk about that extensively when it actually happens.

I've been in contact with two other stores about carrying Kaya's Kloset shoes as well, so as much as I love the knitting... there is a lot of sewing going on around here.

Check out the new website and let me know what you think!

Oh Right, That Sweater!

I had a sweater to show you, didn't I? I finished it up well over a week ago, and Kaya's worn it once since then. It's very cute, but she's not the most compliant model these days!

This one is a better pic of the new longies I knit her, but it was too artistically cute to not post!

Unfortunately I just put her down for a nap, and the sweater is in her room. She really needs this nap and I am not going in there to get it, so modeled shots will have to do for now. I'll put some more pictures on its Ravelry page when I get a chance.

The longies are from the Punk Knitters Pattern, and her shoes of course are from Kaya's Kloset! For the longies, I used some Morehouse Merino yarn that I bought at their tent sale Rhinebeck weekend. It's LOVELY and so soft like all of their yarn. I'm so sad that their store has closed now. I really look forward to the once a year trip after the fairgrounds close.

What DID That Fabric Become?

So, are you dying from the suspense? Well, that whole coffee table full of fabric was meant to become 3 projects. One for a Christmas present, one for a present to be gifted in the future, and one for me.

One of those projects was completed, one is cut out, and the third hasn't been touched. The good news is that they were tackled in order of importance and no... I didn't put myself number one on that list!

The Christmas present was for my fabulous cousin Jenny. She's been on this blog before. I made her a double knit fishy hat October 2006. She was my maid of honor at my wedding, and I'll be a bridesmaid in hers this November. I'm sure there were others, but the crying (not napping) baby in the other room isn't allowing me to recall at the moment. Jen, can you help?

So, this year she got a tote bag from Last Minute Quilted and Patchwork Gifts.

Complete with a tag of it's own.

...and I always want to see what people used for a lining fabric, (I really wish you could see the lining in the book).

Christmas gift giving was a bit crazy, (as it always is), and I was unwrapping presents with Kaya while Mike handed ours out, but he came back to me with this story:

Jen opened the box and took out the bag, admiring it respectfully. As she started to put it back into the box, Mike pointed out the tag. She said "I thought that Johanna got this from Etsy, but Johanna IS Etsy!" Awesome! What better compliment is there than that?

So, the rest of the projects will pitter towards completion and possibly even be blogged about here.

Happy New Year!
