Jofrog is Knitfrog!

I felt the need for a quick project this week, and it was actually cool enough two mornings last week for Kaya to need a warm hat, rather than a sun hat, for Naomi's morning walk... so of course a new hat for Kaya it was!
I have loved this pattern since the first time I saw it, and it was as enjoyable to knit as it was to lust after in the book!Almost September, Almost Knits Weather!

Kaya also wanted to show you the stitch pattern a bit more clearly!

Hmmm, so blogging? Right, I used to do that... Ravelry could really make me an even lazier blogger than I already am. It takes the place of all of the business aspects of knit-blogging, without the need for chat. Photo. Info. Done.
I do like the chat too, it's just finding the time and motivation. I've been sewing a ton of shoes lately for Kaya's Kloset, and playing with Kaya and Buddy a lot. Buddy is crawling all over now, so there isn't much sitting around or skipping out of the room while they are playing nicely to check email, blog, or even make food for me, the babies, or Naomi! Kaya is crawling backwards and frustrated that she isn't moving forwards! She'll get there soon though.
When she isn't crawling backwards Kaya can be seen chewing on the loose ends of a wool soaker that never got leg bands or had it's ends woven in.
I've made no less than 6 of these for Kaya, and 2 for Carol's son. I really love the wool. Her skin under the diaper looks so good and healthy when she's been wearing the soakers rather than a PUL cover. I know that there are a ton of great patterns out there, but all I'm looking for in a diaper cover pattern is quick and easy. They fit her well and I'm totally happy with the ones I've made using this pattern.
Okay, one more photo... if you insist!

There were lots of questions in the comments to my last post about the Soft Sea Wool. The big answer is I'm loving it!
It is only hand wash, but it feels so much like a superwash wool that if I have any extra (which is unlikely... I think I'm going to be down to the last yard or so and sewing it together with something else!) I'll make a swatch and wash it in the machine. I wouldn't be surprised if it washes up like a dream.
I've found myself in the car a bit lately and not driving, so this has been my project of choice most of the time. I'm done with the back and half way done with the first front. It will definitely be a runner up for Kaya's Rhinebeck sweater (yes Meredith Kaya will be there... she was there last year too, but didn't get to see much through my belly!).
I say that this will be a runner up for Kaya's Rhinebeck sweater because the order is in for some Knitpicks Swish to make the Pinwheel Jacket for her to wear this year and maybe for the next few! This pattern is awesome and is said to be able to fit 6 months to 4 years... all just one size!
The only real question is will I find the knitting time when all of my crafting time is devoted to sewing for Kaya's Kloset? Hey, speaking of... what am I doing blogging... off to sew while Kaya is napping!Oh So Soft Sea Wool

What a selfish mama I am! It starts to get a little bit chilly and I pick up a sweater for me... what about the little one. Surely I regulate my temperature better than she does! I picked up some Reynolds Soft Sea Wool at Webs when I went out for the Charmed Knits event and book signing. Kaya's eyes are so stunningly blue that I really want to start drawing that out. This interesting smokey blue will do the trick I think. Will this be Kaya's Rhinebeck sweater? We'll have to see!Kaya's Chilly Too

A few nights ago it was actually cool enough that I wanted a blanket to put over my legs while I was watching tv! It's August, it's been SO HOT, and I was looking for a blanket!
This is why I love the northeast. I understand that San Diego and Hawaii and Arizona are beautiful all of the time, but where's the excitement when things change?
I pulled out my "Divine Cardigan" and started in on the edging. You may remember that rather than knitting a strip and sewing it on, as the instructions tell you to, I cast on provisionally and left live stitches so that I could knit it on. On the edges I'm picking up a stitch and knitting it together with the border, as one would do with an applied I-cord.
This is a slow going project, but interesting enough to keep my attention for one lace repeat (28 rows). I started at the middle of the back of the neck and I'm almost down to the bottom of the left front now. Progress, certainly progress! September is coming, yeah fall!A Cool Snap and Renewed Interest

Boy, there are a lot of needles hung up in this project at the moment!

I was lucky to receive my Sockapalooza socks late last week! Off schedule babies have caused the lag in blogging, but they are napping now and it's cool enough today to be able to stand having socks on.
Joanne, (my neighbor on the North Shore of Boston), made me some beautiful socks out of my absolute favorite sock yarn, Cherry Tree Hill Supersock!
She made up this pattern herself especially for me and they are just awesome. I even commented on her blog to tell her so and tell her that her pal was a lucky one! What a surprise that her pal was me!
Thanks so much Joanne, and of course thanks to Alison for pulling off another fantastic swap!Knock My Sock(aplaooza)s Off

I love the picot edge so much I cast on for a new pair of socks with one that same weekend!

My sockapalooza socks are on their way to my pal as we speak (or as I type as the case may be)! I had thought that I'd finish the knitting on the plane to or home from Colorado, but any mothers of infants (or probably any aged children) are laughing at me right now! I knit a few rows on a heel flap on the plane and a bit more on the sock in the evenings in Colorado. Kaya and I were flying alone on the way home so again I got a few rows in while she was napping on me, but not the type of progress I'm used to when taking long plane rides across the country!
Despite that, my socks were done in time to send out to my pal.
Pattern: Dublin Bay (free online pdf)
Yarn: Ellen's Half Pint Farm unknown colorway
Needles: US 2
...and a closeup of the Dublin Bay pattern:
I also sent along a pair of Kaya's Kloset shoes for a special little one in my pal's life. I hope she enjoys them!
In other Sockapalooza 4 news... I got my socks too! I'll save them for their own post because I think they are special enough to deserve it! Yeah!Sockapalooza Wrap-up Part I

It's all about the feet around here! I've been knitting on my Sockapalooza socks (one toe and I'm finished) and sewing lots of baby shoes.
Three more custom orders are on their way out the door right now. Some of these designs will be making their way to my Etsy shop "Kaya's Kloset" in the near future!
I really love these little race car shoes! They are going to the newborn daughter of an amazing female race car driver! How cool is that?
Vroom Vroom, and I'm off!Footwear
