Jofrog is Knitfrog!
April 30 2007
Well, I finished these socks with hours to spare, but I'm just now getting the pictures loaded onto the computer. My models are all in bed, and you've seen enough of my feet, so a Sandra Boynton chicken it is! Project Specs: Off to figure out what socks I'll knit for May... and then to bed before Kaya wakes up!It's Still April!

Kristen, the almost graduated med student who knits, graciously gave me this yarn to make Mike a pair of socks. She wasn't sure if the red was going to be too bright, and I say it is most definitely not. He loves them! Thanks Kristen.
I've got to make this: into a finished pair of socks by the end of the day to qualify as my "April Socks" for SAM3 KAL. Check back later to see if I did it (despite taking care of two infants, going to a sing-along, and running some errands). What am I doing still on the computer, the babies are napping... off to knit!No Time To Blog

My wonderful cousin Jenny has moved away... again. She has this tendency to alternate living close to me and super far away. Last time she was super far away it was Tokyo... now it's Nova Scotia. Jen is oh so far away, and it was oh so cold, that I wanted to send her a little hug. Of course, these socks got to her just in time for the warm weather, but we all know the cold will come again! Project Specs: Karma Chameleon

This yarn has such long color repeats that I started the second sock from the other end of the ball. I didn't want it to look like they didn't quite match up, so I went with obvious non-matching instead. I think it works... you?

Unfortunately we know a 10 month old baby with very aggressive bilateral retinoblastoma.
Unfortunately she's going through chemo once a month, and evaluation under anesthesia just as frequently.
Unfortunately she's going to lose one of her eyes, possibly both.
Unfortunately there isn't much we can do but think good thoughts and knit. I made this little hat for her for later this spring and summer. Rachel's hair has started to fall out from the chemo and she needed something pretty to cover her little head.
Pattern Specs:
All sicknesses like this tend to cost a lot of money, so friends of the family are trying their best to raise money for the family. I'll be putting a lot of records up on Ebay to sell for them and I'll let you know when they go up. Locally (in MA) a friend will be selling candles to raise money, and they are hoping to raise some money at their HS reunion this year. If you are interested in helping them out, please let me know and I can send you more information, or you can read more about Rachel at her CaringBridge blog.Unfortunately

Kaya caught me trying to take a profile shot

After visiting family this past weekend, I can finally blog about one of the projects I finished last month. (The other is in the mail and will be blogged as soon as I receive confirmation it's been delivered.) My cousin Jodi had a baby in February and we finally got to meet the not so little peanut! Talia is 10 weeks younger than Kaya and just about the same size! I made her a little sun-hat for this summer so she can be outside while her mom is chasing after her older brother! Project Specs: Finally Blogable

Kaya, of course, was more than happy to model the hat!
She couldn't decide if it was better with the brim up or down, but wanted you to see all angles!
Talia, we can't wait to see you and your family again soon. Hugs!

I just posted Kaya's 4 month pictures over at Jofrog's Tadpole, but just in case you thought that every picture I take of Kaya is a good one, here are a few out-takes: Happy picture taking to one and all!4 Months Old

This is what happens when the subject gets tired of the demands of the camera.
This is one frame later!
...and every once in a while you catch a gem!

I couldn't even squeeze a baby into this picture to make it better! Ugg, white stockinette sweater pieces.
I've been working off and on knitting the
"Divine" cardigan. I've got both fronts and the back finished, yeah! The orange yarn is a provisional cast on. The pattern tells you to cast on normally (long-tail) and then after all of the pieces are knit and sewn together it wants you to knit the trim and sew it on. (How very Debbie Bliss, maybe she worked with Sublime to design this pattern!) I cast on provisionally and kept the top of the neck stitches live and will be knitting the edging onto the sweater. Less finishing, neater, and no guessing if my edging strip is long enough. I think I'll start the edging as soon as my first sleeve is done and sewn in! Maybe I'll have an alpaca sweater to wear for May... hey, it will be winter again, or in Boston it may never become summer!Sometimes No Picture is Better
