OAK is Open!

There is a new store open on Newbury St in Boston called OAK and they are carrying Kaya's Kloset Shoes!

We were able to get down there last weekend (a whole 3 days after the store opened) to check it out!

The store is super cute and everything is handmade from people around the world! There are a lot of local artisans and an amazing variety of goods.

The store is very cute inside. It's inviting and everywhere you look there is something new!

The baby corner was, of course, where I went to first, and in addition to the thrill of seeing Kaya's Kloset shoes displayed, we also went home with a shirt for Kaya from Petalouda that I just couldn't resist!

If you are in Boston, go check it out! They are having an official "Grand Opening" April 27th with food and drinks and almost everything in the store will be on sale!

Not Much

I have two more first socks just about completed, an Easter present for Kaya that I never blogged about, and some more soakers too, but still there's nothing to see here!

Our computer died last weekend, so as we wait for a new one to come in the mail from the lovely people at Dell I've been making and posting more shoes, and processing as few pictures as possible until I can be on a new desktop!

Although there's nothing to see here, there's always baby cuteness over at Kaya's blog. If you haven't seen the video I posted over there it's really worth a click! ...trust me!

Green Socks

Dani's post today made me realize that my newest finished socks are just perfect for today's holiday!

Things I like about these socks:

Things I don't like: I really loved this pattern, and I'd love to knit more from this designer, but ~$16 is mighty steep for a sock knitting pattern... I'll have to admire from afar... or wait for more free ones!

Firestarter

I've been on such a sock knitting kick here I can't put them down for long enough to take pictures and blog about them. Ever since I received one of Alison's sock bags for Christmas I've had some serious sock knitting mojo!

I break the radio silence today to show you my most recently completed sock (number 2 is on the needles).

This is the Firestarter pattern out of Sunshine Yarns "soft" sock yarn in the colorway "Jaded". I LOVE this yarn! It isn't listed on the new Sunshine Yarns site, but there is one left on her Etsy site.

Today is the perfect day to be blogging about these socks because it is Sunshine Yarns dyer extrordinare, Dani's, birthday today! She's a leap year baby so go wish her a very happy birthday... she needs four times the shout-outs today because she only gets it every four years!

Go wish Dani a happy birthday now!

Last Stop

Last stop on the baby train:

This is our newest cousin. One month old and wearing his first pair of shoes. I can't wait to see him in the hippo ones!

In Action

And here the soakers are, one day later, in action!

So comfy she fell asleep!

And a picture of our first meeting with Baby Natalie.

We can't wait to see you guys again!

Emergency Knitting

My best friend Miranda just gave birth to a tiny baby! We went over to meet baby Natalie yesterday, and we came bearing gifts.

Natalie is too small, at 6lb, for her cloth diapers! The covers were too big for her and were chafing her little legs, so "Aunt" Johanna to the rescue with three new, super soft, soakers to get her through this newborn period.

Kaya's newest soaker, (which is big on her at the moment), is there for scale! She's a giant... Natalie is so tiny... a little of both!

We had a great time meeting Kaya's newest friend and were so happy to help them on their newest adventure! Congratulations Miranda!

Welcome to My Insanity

My craft room is too full! It's a small room that's taken up mostly by a day bed (that Naomi sleeps on... pampered pooch!). The rest of the room is my sewing table and the yarn cabinet that Shannon left for me when she moved out of this apartment!

I started sorting today, and thought to take pictures about half way through. Welcome to my insanity!

Entering from the kitchen... not too bad.

This would be shoe central.

Shannon, did it look like this with your yarn in it?

So of course, the only thing to do is purge some of that yarn I'm not using. I've put up some on Ravelry. Some of it I'm happy to part with for shipping only, some are a bit nicer and I'd like a bit more for it. Check it out, let me know what you think.

What's that? A finished, nice and tidy picture? Good luck! It may be a bit more organized, but it's no where near neat and tidy. Good thing the only one I have to share it with is Naomi.

Kaya's Kloset's Next Big Step

I've been knitting a ton lately! It's been fun again. I'm knitting a new and fun project. I ran out of one of the colors yesterday, but my LYS still had a ball in the same dye lot!

...but that's not what I'm writing about today!

I think the knitting urge has been born out of a release of energy and tension with the launch of the new Kaya's Kloset website!

I've been making a ton of shoes lately. Some have been listed on Etsy, and a large box of shoes went to a store on Boston's Newbury St that will be opening next month! I'll be sure to talk about that extensively when it actually happens.

I've been in contact with two other stores about carrying Kaya's Kloset shoes as well, so as much as I love the knitting... there is a lot of sewing going on around here.

Check out the new website and let me know what you think!

Oh Right, That Sweater!

I had a sweater to show you, didn't I? I finished it up well over a week ago, and Kaya's worn it once since then. It's very cute, but she's not the most compliant model these days!

This one is a better pic of the new longies I knit her, but it was too artistically cute to not post!

Unfortunately I just put her down for a nap, and the sweater is in her room. She really needs this nap and I am not going in there to get it, so modeled shots will have to do for now. I'll put some more pictures on its Ravelry page when I get a chance.

The longies are from the Punk Knitters Pattern, and her shoes of course are from Kaya's Kloset! For the longies, I used some Morehouse Merino yarn that I bought at their tent sale Rhinebeck weekend. It's LOVELY and so soft like all of their yarn. I'm so sad that their store has closed now. I really look forward to the once a year trip after the fairgrounds close.
